Their 1st child, Isaac DeLafayette Thornton, born in Wirt County in Dec 1873, died at age 1yr 4ms 23ds, and was buried in Freeport Cemetery. Four additional children, who grew to adulthood were: Lyda A.B., George W., Lillie Loretta, and John M. THORNTON, all of whom are buried in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.

Formerly a farmer in Wirt County, G.B. settled his family in Parkersburg prior to his mother's Oct 1897 death. Both daughters married Cunningham brothers. Three of his five known grandchildren are also buried in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.
