Elnora Viola (Mullen) Mumford, age 96, formerly of Saint Paris, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 4:08 a.m. in Hearth and Home, Urbana. Born on August 14, 1914, in Sidney, Elnora was a daughter of the late Clay and Leona (Roesser) Mullen. She married Paul "Shorty" Mumford on October 1, 1934 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1989. Elnora is survived by one daughter, Helen Ann (Richard) Bishop of St. Paris, two grandsons: Steven Bishop of Battlecreek, MI and Dean Michael Bishop of St. Paris, five great grandchildren: Lauren Rae (Quentin) Tyson of NC, Tiffany Bishop of Springfield, Seth Michael Bishop of DeGraff, Amber Wagner and Shanna (Travis) Harrington both of Grand Rapids,MI, three great great grandchildren, Hitch and Samantha Wagner and Montgomery Harrington and one great great granddaughter on the way, Temperance Harrington. She is also survived by one brother Wayne Mullen of Conover, two sisters: Jessie Westfall of Tipp City and Goldie Gross of Sidney, many nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include special friends Deborah Bishop of Battlecreek, MI, Tricia Rosengarten of St. Paris, Loren Miller of Springfield and special dog, Steeledog. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Elnora was a 1933 graduate of Green Twp High School, Plattsville, Ohio. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making her chicken and noodles for the monthly Ladies Friendship Class dinners and she was an honorary member of the United Methodist Women. Basketball was one of her greatest joys. Her love for her family always came first and she loved spending time with them all. Elnora was a hard worker, always willing to lend a hand to her friends and family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris with Pastor Dave Kepple of the St. Paris United Methodist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Casstown Cemetery, N. Children's Home Road, Casstown. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m in the funeral home.
