One of the largest family reunions ever held in this county was held yesterday at the home of Mrs. Eliza Youmans, near Nunez, in this county. This reunion was held in celebration of Mrs. Youmans' eighty-first birthday.
Mrs. Youmans was Miss Eliza Barwick and in April 1849 she married Solomon Youmans, of this county, who died many years ago. The issues of this marriage were ten sons, two of whom died in childhood, and two daughters, Mrs. L.B.Brown (Lucy Viannah) and Mrs. J.R. Smith (Selina Virginia), both of who are dead.
The eight living sons aggregate in weight 1,600 pounds. They all live in this county and are substantial citizens, Judge John E. Youmans is ordinary of this county; Nathan Youmans is a member of the board of education; S.H. (Sewel) Youmans is deputy sherriff of the county, and E.S.(Ebenezer Starens) Youmans is a member of the board or roads and revenue commissioners. The other sons are T.N. (Thomas Norwood) Youmans, Lott Youmans and Lawson Youmans. All eight of these sons and about sixty of the one hundred grandchildren of Mrs. Youmans were present.
Mrs. Youmans, though 80 years of age, is still quite active, both in mind and body.
