Obituary in The Elroy Tribune: John Corrigan was a native of Ireland and was born in Newport, Couunty Mayo, April 5, 1846. He came to America with his mother and family in the Spring of 1863, his father having proceeded them and settled on a farm in the town of Siber Lake, Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Three years later the family moved to Dellona and in 1867 to Wonewoc.
Mr. Corrigan was married Jan 6th 1874 to Mary A. Coonly [sic] of Wonewoc. They came to Elroy in 1880, and in 1882 Mr. Corrigan began work in the round house of the Omaha Ry. Co. where he remained a trusted and faithful employee up to the time of his last illness. He was not considered in poor health, although at times he had complained of slight rheumatic difficulties. However on Monday afternoon Aug 29 he was compelled to leave his work and go home and in spite of prompt medical attendanced he rapidly declined until the following Thursday morning, when death relieved his sufferings. Acute nephritis was the cause of death.
Mr. Corrigan leaves a widow and seven children, John L., Edward F., Hannah, George H., Lucy A., Willie, and Louie. Another daughter, Mary died in 1896. He also leaves a brother and sister, James Corrigan and Mrs. P. McGarty of the city.
Mr. Corrigan was a quiet, industrious citizen and a kind husband and father. His death is a severe blow to his family, who have the sympathy of the Community. The funeral was held from St. Patrick's Church Saturday forenoon.
