Obituary in The Elroy Tribune : "James Corrigan of this city aged 58 years April 5th after a sickness of only three weeks. The deceased was Brother-in-law of Mrs. [John Francis] Mary Corrigan and leaves a brother, Peter, who lives in St. Paul and a sister, Mrs. Patrick [Mary] McGarty of this city. He had traveled over a great portion of the earth having been born in the parish of Barishool County Mayo, Ireland and came to this country with his parents and lived with them on the farm now known as the Shorer farm in the town of Plymouth for several years. Leaving this place about twenty five years ago, he lived in a wandering life and returned to this vicinity a couple of years ago. The funeral was held in St. Patrick's Church in this city on Monday of this week and was buried in the Catholic cemetery at this place."

One of his nephews said he was called "Supple Jim" because he was so athletic. His niece, Hannah, recalled that "Jim never married. One never knew where he was. He traveled all over the world & would drop in unannounced."
