He was a Private, Company D. known as Kogers Company, 41st Regiment, Mississippi Infantry. CSA: he transferred to 9th Battallion sharp shooters, same brigade.

Noah Harris states:
"I was captured at the Battle of Missionary Ridge, and was thereafter imprisioned at Rock Island, Illinois, until I was paroled by the United States Government, and sent to Richmond, Va. When I reached Richmond, I was paroled or furloughed by the Confederate Government for thirty days, or until I had been exchanged. Prior to the expiration of the thirty days and before I was exchanged General Lee surrendered."
