Willie J. (W. J.) "Shub" Edenfield, 88, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.

The Wayne Co., GA, native was a member and Deacon of the Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church, a World War II Veteran and retired owner of W. J. Edenfield and Son, Inc. He was known for developing several subdivisions and building numerous homes in the Wayne and Liberty County areas and was also in the floor covering business. He was a devoted Christian, hard worker, loving family man, an avid farmer and raised cattle.

He was predeceased by a son: Bryan Jay Edenfield, parents: W. J. and Bessie Lewis Edenfield, 3 brothers: Acie, Josh, & Wendell "Sam" Edenfield, 5 sisters: Eudell Groover, Minnie Groover, Dorothy Bunton, Alverta Williams, & Geneva Eason.

Survivors are his loyal wife of 59 years: Kathryn "Tommie" Edenfield of Jesup, GA, daughter & son-in-law: Eunita (DeMont) Rogers of Jesup, GA, son & daughter-in-law: Kary (Brenda Dorsey) Edenfield of Jesup, GA, sister: Wilma E. Brown of Jesup, GA, brother: Harmon Edenfield of Jesup, GA, 4 grandchildren: Shelia (Lance) Hill, Bryan Rogers, Jonathan Edenfield, & Kadi Edenfield, a great-granddaughter: Alex Hill, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 P. M. Wednesday, February 23, 2011, from the Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Wendell Horton & Elder Bert Holden officiating.

Interment will be in the Bethesda Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Alan Edenfield, Merle Edenfield, Mike Edenfield, W. A. Edenfield, Tom Groover, Middie Hickox, Gilbert (Duke) Snyder, & Ricky Tyre.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Members of the Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church and sister Primitive Baptist Churches, Dr. Antonio Moran and staff, Dr. Timothy Jamieson and staff, Felicia Rogers, Noel O' Steen, Bill Garlen, David Griffis, Maxie Griffis, Tim Scott, Herbert Griffis, Jerry Wheeler, Mike Deal, Charlotte Long, & Dr. Lex Kenerly.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 P. M. Tuesday from the funeral home.
