David Elder and his older brother, Joshua, moved from Virginia to Georgia, arriving in Clarke County (later Oconee) on 11 Jan 1807. Mollie Phillips Elder lived only a few years after moving to Georgia. She was (probably the first soul) buried in the old Elder Cemetery on Rose Creek in lower Oconee County (then Clarke).
