Came to Lake County, CA as a child. Veteran of the Vietnam War, recipient of Purple Heart. Mined on the Trinity and on Virgin Creek for many years. He loved his family, mining and his Harley. Survived by his wife Patricia and sons Todd and Gary Dean Strong Jr., brother Verdon Strong, and three grandchildren. (Obit from Gary's cousin Gerry Robideaux)

As a kid he was called "Dink"
As a man he was "Bear"
His last words (says an obit)
"Keep my Harley gassed"

These lines & the uploaded pic, in commemoration, Sept. 2011 from Gary's cousin Wayne Pounds (Vietnam, class of 1968-69), Tokyo Japan
