Esther E. Toedtli, the daughter of Miles W. Earl and Hattie May Fish Earl, was born on March 12, 1909, in Hopewell, and died in Cloverdale, on January 15, 2001, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 3 days. She grew up and attended school in Laurelwood, and moved to Tillamook County in the mid 1920's. She was united in marriage to Emil Toedtli on Dec. 25, 1934. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Tillamook for many years before moving to Newberg in 1943. Ten years later, they returned to Cloverdale and dairy farming. This last Dec 25, the couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, Emil of Cloverdale; two sons: Bob Bartchy, Dallas, and Emil C. Toedtli, Salem; four daughters, Betty Hanson, Cornelius, Jolene Gillett, Clatskani, Bonnie Muhly, Dallas, and Sandy Orton, Clover-dale; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Jerald Bartchy on Feb 1, 1995.

Funeral services for Mrs. Toedtli were to be held on Jan. 19, in the Beaver Community Church, with the Rev. Gary Shults officiating. Interment was to be at the Nestucca Valley VFW-IOOF Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to the Tillamook Salvation Army. Arrangements were in care of Waud's Funeral Home, Tillamook.
