SPRINGFIELD - Beatrice Ida (Schoolnick) Fisher, 99, passed away Friday at a local nursing home. Beatrice was born in Russia in 1911 and came to America as an infant with her mother, father and grandfather. She was the oldest of six children. Beatrice lived in Hartford until she was 27, when she married George Fisher on Sept. 1, 1935, who died in 1975. She lived in the Springfield area for over 70 years. Beatrice was an active volunteer in the Jewish Community. She won an award for over 5000 hours of volunteer work in the Jewish Nursing Home and was active in the Jewish Community Center Senior Programs and Temple Beth El. Beatrice participated in Jewish Community amateur theater and was a professional book reviewer for various organizations. She enjoyed travels with her husband George and above all her life was filled with the joy of family. Beatrice is survived by a sister, Shirley Rabinowitz of Waterbury, CT., her son and daughter-in-law Martin and Adrienne Fisher of Jericho Center, VT., a daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda Fisher Nozik and Arthur Nozik of Boulder, CO., grandchildren; Jayne Nozik of New York, NY., Dr. Eva Nozik Grayck and Joshua Grayck, two great grandchildren, Maya Rose Grayck and Isaiah Benjamin Grayck all of Greenwood Village, CO. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. The funeral will be Sunday 10:30 AM at Temple Beth El with burial in City of Homes Cemetery.
