Daniel was born in San Antonio and lived there most of his life with his aunt Horacia Garcia of 7715 Fence, until 5 years ago when he moved to Fullerton, California to live with his parents.
Daniel enlisted in the Marines 29 June 1967 at a Los Angeles Recruiting Office.
Arriving in Vietnam 19 December 1967 Daniel was assigned to a Mortar Battery, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Daniel died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body from hostile mortar
fire when hostile forces attacked the Marine artillery position, at Cao Dei Peninsula and 4 kilometers northwest of Phu Loc.
Daniel was single and served his country for at least one year.
Services and burial were held in La Puente, California.
Survived by his parents, Daniel M and Gloria Cardenas of Fullertown, California.
