PHOEBE JANE McKINSEY

Phoebe Jane McKinsey, who had been in frail health for some time, passed from this life in Lucas county on Sept. 15, 1942, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 17 days.

Phoebe Sams was born in Lucas county, Iowa, on October 29, 1865, and was the daughter of James and Clarinda Sams. She grew to womanhood and lived most of her life in this vicinity.

On October 21, 1888, she was united in marriage to James McKinsey. To this union two children were born, a daughter, who died in infancy, and a son, James Arthur McKinsey, of Chariton.

She embraced the Christian faith and united with the Church of the Nazarene, where she retained her membership until her death.

She leaves to mourn their loss one sister, Mrs. Alice Street, of Clinton, Indiana; one son, James A. McKinsey and wife, of Chariton; four grandchildren, Jean, Helen, James and Joseph McKinsey, all of Chariton, and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Her parents, two brothers, her husband and a daughter preceded her in death.

She was a faithful wife and mother and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. A. Thon, were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Beardsley funeral home and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
