Emma Mariah Sams was born in Wayne county, Iowa, on October 28th, 1867. She was united in marriage to Reuben Marion Shore on June 10th 1883. To this union six children were born, three of whom, Frank, Pearl and Carl, with the husband survive her. Her father, six brothers and three sisters, and other relatives are also living.
She was converted in 1893 and united with the Baptist church, of which she has since remained a member. She was a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor. For over a year and a half she has been a sufferer with a cancer, but her afflictions were borne with patience and braveness.
She requested that after life's day was closed her remains be laid to rest in the Derby cemetery, and this request was complied with. The large concourse of people in attendance at the last sad rites and the several floral tributes gave evidence of the esteem of the community. The bereaved ones will have the sympathy of many friends.
