Garland M. Breeden, 67


Garland Mathew Breeden, 67, of Luray, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, in Luray.

Mr. Breeden was born April 11, 1942, in Stanley, and was a son of the late Elmer Lloyd Breeden and Nealie Jane (Cave) Breeden.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a maintenance worker for the Town of Luray for five years.

On April 25, 1998, he married Bonnie Lou Painter, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Allen Matthew Breeden of Stanley and Jeffery Franklin Breeden of Luray; a stepson, James William Frazier of Stephens City; four brothers, Richard A. Breeden, Clifford M. Breeden, Reginald A. Breeden and Virgil H. Breeden, all of Stanley; two sisters, Grace Nace of Newport News and Evelyn Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Leo Breeden and Delmar M. Breeden, and a sister, Ethel Brockmeyer.

Pastor Randy Miller and the Rev. Don Sherfey will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at New Hope Pentecostal Church. Burial will be at Thomas Cemetery, Tanners Ridge in Stanley.

The body will be taken to the church Monday morning, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the home of his son, Allen, at 5603 Farmview Road in Stanley at any time.

Arrangements are by Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
