Richard Aldine Breeden, 82, of Stanley, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Breeden was born on Jan. 20, 1928, in Page County, and was a son of the late Elmer Lloyd and Nealie Jane Cave Breeden.

He was retired from Genie in Shenandoah, where he worked for 18 years, 15 years as a tractor-trailer driver. He loved working as a mechanic and gardening. He always enjoyed teasing and joking with friends and co-workers.

On April 3, 1957, he married Anna Lee Parlett, who survives. The couple had just celebrated 53 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Lee Gray, and husband, Nathan, of Harrisonburg; one grandson, Joshua N. Gray, of Harrisonburg; his "special" dog, Sugar, whom he thought the world of; two brothers, Clifford M. Breeden and Virgil H. Breeden, both of Stanley; two sisters, Grace Nace of Newport News and Evelyn Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by four brothers, David L. Breeden, Delmar M. Breeden, Reginald D. Breeden, and Garland M. Breeden; and a sister, Ethel Brockmeyer.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Newport Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Kent Bennett and Leroy Hulvey officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Brethren Church Cemetery in Luray.
