According to her father's burial record, Sophia was born in the village of Quaal, near the Protestant parish town of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. She married Claus Ahrens on 5 Dec 1851 in the Protestant parish of Kaltenkirchen, which is located about 17 miles SW of Segeberg.
Sophia's brother, [Carl] Christian, is also buried at Blue Grass Cemetery (Memorial ID 104238031).

The cause of death was apoplexy. The deceased was born in Holstein and had lived in this county 13 years. Her home was on her own farm in Blue Grass. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon from 813 Gaines street to the Blue Grass Cemetery.
