The Belle Banner - July 10, 1930 - Albert T. Burns Passes
Again death visits our community and claims Albert T. Burns who for years has been one of the familiar characters of Maries and adjoining counties, having been born on a farm in Maries county, December 10, 1866.

He grew to manhood on the farm and was married to Miss Mary Ellen Barnhart, who was also reared near the old Burns homestead. To this union were born four daughters and one son. Two daughters died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Ruth Hutchinson of Youngtown, Ohio, Mrs. Pearl Birmingham, of Vienna, Eugene Burns, of Belle, and his widow, Mrs. Mary Ellen Burns. Albert, as he was familiarly known, was the youngest of a family of ten children, seven brothers and three sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death, but Judge I. H. Burns of Vienna.

Some years since deceased was elected Surveyor of Maries county and moved his family to Vienna, where they lived. He having engaged in various enterprises after his retirement from public office. He ran a hotel at Vienna, later at Linn and Dixon, during part of the time he was engaged in the merchantile business at Vienna. At the time of his death he was proprietor of the Commercial hotel in Belle.

Mr. Burns was a lovable character, being of a quiet and gentle disposition, always on the alert to do good for his friends and the community at large, his broad acquaintance numbered his friends. All who knew him learned to admire him. He leaves an enviable record which should be emulated by others. Now since his passing leaves a vacancy in the home and community that cannot be filled, let us console ourselves by the knowledge that he has gone to rest and is now free from the cares of worldly affairs and hope that his reward will be meted out in Heaven, according to his earthly services while on earth.

Mr. Burns passed away at Belle, July 7th, 1930, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 27 days. Funeral services at M. E. Church at Vienna, Rev. Carl Baldwin officiating. Interment at the Vienna Cemetery, Wednesday, July 9th. "The leaves of memory seem to mark a mournful rustling in the dark." J. W. T. (From contributor, Ellen)
