From History of Maries Co, MO by Everett M. King: Burton Burns, second son of Henry, was born April 14, 1848, and died November 29, 1920. He was married by Reverend H. F. Odom September 15, 1872, to Emily R. Denton who was born December 17, 1848, and died June 25, 1882. The three children born of this marriage, all yet living, are: Jeff, now in Oklahoma; John in Colorado; and Jennie, wife of Clay Copeland at Union, Missouri.

Seven children were born of his second marriage on June 29, 1883, to Sarah Caldwell, all of whom, with the widow, survive. They are: James M. Burns, Griselda, wife of Gordon Lawson, and Dulcie, wife of Elzey Orr, all of whom, with the widow, live in this county; Charity, wife of Manley M. Humphrey of Dixon; Gertie, wife of Hardin Whitaker of Rolla; Sophia, wife of Rainey Parker, to whom she was married May 27, 1909, and J. C. (Cleve) Burns live in Franklin County. Cleve Burns' wife, a daughter of William N. Rowden, died December 13, 1934, leaving two sons, Clyde and Burton.
