RUSK-- Joseph , was born in a cedar log cabin southwest of Hominy, Indian Territory on June 19, 1901 to Richard and Elizabeth Rusk. He departed this life at 7:25 a.m. on November 26, 1997 after a short illness. Joseph was raised in Hominy and was an original enrollee on the Daws Commission role of the Cherokee Nation. He loved Oklahoma and its land. Joseph took his first airplane flight at the age of 91 and loved every minute of it. Joseph is survived by: his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Betty Rusk of Asheville, NC; 2 step-daughters and their husbands, Mary and Ben Pointer of Hominy and Ruth and Bob Parish of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by: his cousins, Leon Spears of Osage, Maudie Koenemann of Copan, Irene Alexander of Hominy, Marie Vann of Pryor and Ruby Carl of Shidler; and close friends, Linda and James Wilcox of Osage and Chris and Stan Townsen of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by: his parents and his wife, Eva on March 22, 1990. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 1997 at Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, OK. (Tulsa World)
