A native of Albemarle, N.C., he was the husband of the late Gretchen Burris Burleson and the son of Jape C. Burleson and Iler Honeycutt Burleson, both deceased.
He is survived by brothers, Bob Burleson of New Carrollton, Md., and Cecil Burleson of Tacoma, Wash. and a sister, Eleanor B. Prewitt of Spartanburg, S.C. He retired from Burlington Mills after a lengthy service as the Quality Control Officer, Hosiery Division. Also, he was an inventor, holding some 19 patents. His hobbies were many, including oil painting and Amateur Radio, etc. He was a longtime member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church, where memorials may be made.
The funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011, Dr. Genie Martin, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.
