Carey Eugene "Runt" Harney 83, 1001 Independence Dr. Elwood, died Sunday at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital.

Born Jan 29,1917 in Elwood he was the son of Carey Roscoe and Goldie Waymire Harney. He married Esteleen Wise in 1937.

He was a electrician and retired in 1983 from Guide Lamp. He was a Past Master Mason of the Markleville Lodge 629, F&AM and a member of the Order of Eastern Star an Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter Eugenia Lutes of Holley,NY.; a son Estel "Bud" Harney of Anderson, five grandsons, six great-grandchildren and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Carl Everett and Glenn Harney, a sister Zola Knorr, a niece and an infant daughter Lucretia Harney.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jackley-Landrum Funeral Home with Rev Neal Brown and Mark Joyner officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will begin at 7 p.m.
