George W Barr Jr had no children. He lived with his mother and sisters until his mother died in 1923. By 1930 (age 59), he was still single and had accompanied his oldest sister, Lydia Durst, to California. He is still single (age 69) in the 1940 census and marries after 1940, Bertha Gaddis (age 52+)Hunt, as her second husband. He dies in 1951, age 79.

George Washington Barr, 79, died Feb. 19th in a Chico hospital. He was a resident of Paradise and before his retirement, he had worked as a guard at Pan American Airways in Alameda.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha. Services will be in the Paradise Chapel of the Pines followed by interment in Paradise cemetery. Graveside services will be provided by the Spanish-American War Veterans.

He married for the first time after 1940 Bertha Gaddis Hunt, as her second husband. They were both over the age of 60 and had no children together.

Her first husband was Claude Richard Hunt and they married 17 Nov 1906 in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho. They had one son, Jack R Hunt, who died in 1983 in CA.
