Mike Allen James, 61 passed away February 2, 2011, at Penrose hospital in Colorado Springs.

Mike was born in Montrose on July 27, 1949, to Jesse L. and Elsie Mae James. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps. in Viet Nam from 1968-1970. Mike worked in law enforcement for 13 years in the San Luis Valley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors in general. He especially loved his two fishing trips to Yakutat, Alaska.

Preceding Mike in death were his father and mother, one sister, Betty Burt, one brother Kim K. James, and one step grand daughter Valerie Rogers. Mike is survived by his wife Jessie, son Lance (Pansy) James, and daughter Michelle Henderson, who both reside in Arkansas, step children Deborah (Terry) Hoefle of Seattle, Wash. Skip (Shelly) Burnett of Del Norte, Billie (Brian) Culp of La Veta, grandchildren Lakyn and Tory James, James and Ashley Henderson, Tyler (Ginny) and Justin Hoefle, Candice Collins and Jamie Burnett and Mandy (Bryon) Roberts, great grandchildren Valerie, Ethan and Luke Roberts. He is also survived by his brothers Jesse D. James of Bullhead City, Arizona, Bruce (Ronnie) James of Kremmling, Jody (Barbara) James of Kremmling, sisters Bonnie James of Monte Vista and Peggy (Andy) Narranjo of Monte Vista, along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many, many friends.

The family chose cremation. Graveside military service to be held at Del Norte cemetery, Saturday February 12, 2011 at 11 a.m.
