Hulda Walters
Hulda Walters, a former Hood River, Ore., resident, died July 3, 2003, at a Forest Grove, Ore., care facility. She was 100 years of age.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center. A reception will follow.

Hulda was born July 14, 1902, in Napoleon, N.D., to Andreas and Magdalena (Schlicter) Sayler. She was raised and educated in Underwood, N.D. On July 1, 1923, she and William Walters were married in Underwood. In 1943 they moved to Portland, Ore., where William worked in the shipyards. Following the war, they returned to North Dakota and then moved to Hood River in 1947.

Mrs. Walters had worked at A.G.A. Cannery for 21 years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and cooking and was an avid Blazer fan. Her recipe for cinnamon rolls is still being used in a local restaurant. In 1969 she moved to Portland then to Cornelius, Ore., in 1981 and to North Plains, Ore., in 1994. In 1998 she moved to the care facility in Forest Grove.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald Walters of Hood River; Wilbert Walters of Alpine Lake, W.V., and Arlen Walters of Camas, Wash.; two daughters, Darlene Dorman of North Plains, and Betty Wade of Lewiston, Idaho, and her sister, Gertie Landsiedel of Turtle Lake, N.D.

Sixteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Her husband and granddaughter Cloë Walters preceded her in death.

Vault interment will be at Idlewild Cemetery.
