Sarah Ann Coats Humphreys, the daughter of James Albert Coats and Mary Ann Parks, was born August 25, 1829 in Tennessee. She was the wife of Henley Humphreys, who was born May 13, 1822 in North Carolina. At the time of the 1880 Census they were living in Precinct #4 of Dallas County, Texas with the following children born in Tennessee: DeWitt, born about 1852, Amandy, born about 1854 and Anne Dell, born about 1864. There were probably other children born to this couple who were deceased or not then living at home. Henley Humphreys died at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 17 days on January 30, 1890. He was buried in the Bennett Cemetery in what was Balch Springs. It is now enclosed in the Laurel Oaks Memorial Park located near Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas. Sarah Ann Coats Humphreys joined her husband there after her death on April 25, 1924 at the age of 94 years and 8 months.
