Mrs. Adeline Noel, Jackson Township, Succumbs at 96
Mrs. Adeline G. Noel, 96, the oldest resident of Jackson township, died at Silver Cross hospital Sunday night after a brief illness. She had been a patient in the hospital since she fell in her farm home and fractured her left hip Oct. 7. She would have observed her 97th birthday Dec. 7. Prior to her accident, Mrs. Noel had been in good health and was active around her home near Elwood. Mrs. Noel was born in St. Paul, Minn., Dec. 7, 1858, but moved to Jackson township in 1870 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gonter. The Gonters moved to a log cabin on the old Kyrk farm in Jackson township. Mrs. Noel was married to Ervin Noel of Jackson township Feb. 18, 1880, and moved with her husband to the Noel homestead in Jackson township where she lived the rest of her life. Her husband preceded her in death in 1927. She was a member of the W.S.C.S. of the Elwood Methodist church. Surviving are one son, Frank of Jackson township; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Carrie) Brereton and Mrs. Warren (Bertha) Myers, both of Jackson township; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sonntag Funeral home with the Rev. Charles Chakour officiating. Burial will be in Brown cemetery, Jackson township. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
