Jane was born about 1808 in Illinois or Ohio and was the first daughter and fifth child born to Mary and Samuel Lee. Her older brothers were Samuel, John, Frederick and Hezekiah. Her younger siblings were Elias, Jeremiah and Polly Ann.
Jane married Jacob Prickett on August 24, 1824 in Bond County, Illinois. Together they raised five children (Nancy, Mary Ann, Caroline, Elias and John) in Bond County, Illinois.
In the mid 1830's the family moved to Henry County, Iowa along with Jane's brothers Fred, Hezekiah, John and Jeremiah. Jane's mother Mary who was living with Jane and Jacob after her husband's death moved with them. Once in Iowa they had four or five more children Jane, Julia Ann, Delila, (possibly Schillar), and William.
Jane and Jacob were farmers.
