Florence was born December 4, 1915, near Retreat, Wisconsin, to Franklin and Florence (Tower) Ames. The house she lived in burned down and her father then relocated the family to a farm he purchased on Lawrence Ridge where she grew up. Florence had many fond memories of her life on the farm.
She married Harold Traister on December 20, 1946, in Santa Monica, CA. Florence lived in LaCrosse, Lock and Dam #3 at Red Wing, Minn., and in Las Vegas, Nv. She enjoyed her home on French Island where she fed the birds and other wildlife.
Florence is survived by a sister, Lois Ames Noel of Prairie du Chien, Wi.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; brothers, Frank, Ross, Eugene, Glen, Percy and Leonard; and by one sister, Bernice.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon in the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, in LaCrosse. The Reverend Bruce Iverson will officiate and burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.
