Paul K. Farthing, 85, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at his home. He had previously resided in Elmhurst, Illinois. He was born on August 22, 1916 in Salem, Illinois, the son of Carl and Minerva (Leuty) Farthing.
    Mr. Farthing married Audrey Gaulrapp on September 14, 1938 in Rock Falls, Illinois. He worked for International Harvester Company for 41 years until his retirement in 1976. He was a life member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois. He served as Master of Elmhurst Lodge 941 and as District Deputy Grand Master of Northern Illinois. Mr. Farthing was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Audrey, of Aurora; his three children, Pamela (the late, Gail) Erschen of Aurora, Dan (Sharon) Farthing of Westmont, and Carol (Don) Hirsch of Aurora; four grandchildren, Jennifer Erschen, Paul Erschen, Michael Farthing and Amanda Hirsch; as well as a sister, Minerva (Elwin) Swanson of Harmon, Illinois.
    Besides his parents, Mr. Farthing was preceded in death by his son, Terry Farthing; a grandson, Joseph Farthing; his brothers, Darrell and Arthur Farthing.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora. Rev. Thomas Whitney will officiate. Private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, IL. Visitation will take place from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
