Sunday, a message was received from Rochester, Minn., saying that Morton Bennett, of the Nevada community, had died at the Mayo hospital at 8 o'clock Sunday morning
and that his body would reach Kokomo Monday evening. Plans were made for the Shull ambulance to meet the party at Kokomo and convey the body to the late home near Nevada.

Mr. Bennett had been ill for; some time, suffering from a tumor, and he had undergone two brain operations at Stearn hospital at Indianapolis, previous to going to the Mayo hospital. The first operation was several weeks ago and following this he was returned to his home, but there was a recurrence of the trouble and he returned for the second operation, but two days later it was apparent that no relief had been secured, and he was taken to the Rochester hospital, the operation being performed at that place last Saturday.

Mr. Bennett was 43 years of age and was the son of Jesse W. and Mary F.Bennett who moved to this county from Benton county more than twenty years ago, buying a farm near Nevada. They resided on the farm for some time, but later moved to Sharpsville.

Morton Bennett was united in marriage to Miss Emma Whitehead, of Elwood, no children being born to the union. She survives along with a sister and brother; Wilton Bennett, near Nevada, and Mrs. Alice (Jesse) Williams, of the same community, are the only surviving members of the Bennett family.

Added by Jan Dishon July 27, 2011:

Edward was the son of Jesse W. and Mary F. Cresse Bennett. His siblings were Nellie, Alice and Samuel Wilson Bennett.

His obit says that he was married to Emma Whitehead however the application for marriage license completed by Emma states her name was Howell and that it was her first marriage. I believe that whomever wrote the obit got Edward's grandmother's maiden name (she was Ruth Whitehead Bennett) mixed up with Emma's maiden name.
