1939 Oct 31-Funeral services were to be held this afternoon at the Wheatley Methodist Church for Roy C. Merkle, 54, who died Sunday at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. Mr. Merkle was a native of Brocton, Illinois. He came to Wheatley 19 years ago to make his home. He was one of Wheatley’s leading citizens. He is survived by his wife and a son, Andrew, of Wheatley, and a sister, Mrs. Max Stringer of Flint, Michigan. The Rev. H. C. Couchman is in charge of the service, with interment in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley.
