John Banko, 60, of Scenery Hill R.D.2, died at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday November 30, 1982, in Jefferson Medical Center.
He was born June 8, 1922, in Taylor, Fayette County, the oldest son of Joseph and Bertha Karlock Benko (sic).
He was employed as a field inspector and lab technician at Geo Mechanics Inc. of Belle Vernon for the past 11 years.
He was a former chief of police of Beallsville Borough. during World War II he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
He was Catholic. On February 14, 1941, he married Nora Elaine Power, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lonnie Louise Rollison of New Eagle; two brothers, Joseph Benko (sic) Jr. of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Emery Benko (sic) of Parma, Ohio; severn sisters, Helen Lock of Detroit, Mich., Barbara Dzierzowski of Royal Oak, Mich., Elizabeth Ozark and Mary St. Germain, both of Warren, Mich., Margaret Schiavi of East Detroit, Mich., Marcha Shashura of Portage, Ind., and Nora Craig of Washington, Mich.; and a granddaughter, Holly Elaine Rollison of New Eagle.
A brother, Michael Banko, is deceased.
