Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ann Jenkins, 78, were held Nov. 1 at Bethany Church, Carroll. Mrs. Jenkins died Oct. 30 at Winside.
Rev. Gail Axen officiated at the rites. Milton Owens, accompanied by Dorothy Rees, sang "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Irwin, Tom, Howard and John Morris and Merlin and Morris Jenkins were pallbearers. Burial was in Bethany Church Cemetery.
Sarah Ann Morris, daughter of John and Ellen (Roberts) Morris, was born Dec. 6, 1888 at Wymore, Nebr. The family moved to Cherry County in 1891 and to Wayne County Sept. 28, 1899.
She was married Jan. 1, 1908 to Albert D. Jenkins. The couple spent eight years at Carroll and 12 years at Peetz, Colo. They returned to Carroll in 1928. Mr. Jenkins died in February 1964 and in 1965 Mrs. Jenkins moved to Winside.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Lewis and Roy of Winside, Melvin of Carroll and Raymond of Golden, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Ernst (Valda) Eckman, Hoskins, Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Meyers, Oskaloosa, Ia., and Wilva Jenkins, Winside; a brother, E. A. (Pete) Morris, Winside; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Jenkins, Carroll, and Mrs. Jane Edwards, Wayne; 18 grandchildren and nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
