(Obituary: Jean Ernestine Stevenson, 70, of Baker passed away Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Fallon Medical Complex following a long illness. She was born Nov. 5, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Elsie Quinlan Beckman. She grew up and attended schools in Baker. Jean was married to Norman Stevenson in Baker on Nov. 3, 1948. They lived their entire life in Baker except for a short time in Tacoma, WA. Jean was a wonderful homemaker, enjoyed especially quilting. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Jean and Norman also enjoyed traveling to Arizona where they spent many winters until her failing health prevented them from traveling. Survivors include her husband, Norman, of Baker; three daughters, Tami Lou Marshall and her husband Don of Rockford, WA. Terri Ann Watson and her husband Terry of Colstrip and Kristie Kay Neumiller and her husband Darrell of Spokane, WA; two sisters, Alice Bettenhausen and her husband Roy of Baker and Willa Mae Flint of Baker; three grandchildren, Troy Watson of Billings, Traci Watson Harris and her Yale of Silver Springs, MD and Diedre Neumiller of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers – Ernest, Cecil and Gerald. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 20, 1998, the American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastor Dave Olson and Pastor Kelly Sloan officiating. Ruth Wang was organist and soloist Debbi Jo Varner sang "Nearer My God to Thee". "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Congregational songs were "Christ The Lord Has Risen To Me" and "How Great Thou Art". Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker was in charge of arrangements).
