Stockwell - Jacob Dow Vandenberg, 100, of Stockwell died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in Bowles nursing home at Clarks Hill where he was a patient five years. Born in the Friesland Province of Holland on Aug 17, 1859, he would have been 101 years old next month. He came to the United States in 1879 when he was 20 years old. He was a retired Illinois Central railroad station agent and telegrapher and lived in Minnesota before retiring and moving to Stockwell in 1929. Mr. Vandenberg was married in 1902 to Anna McDole, who died in 1938. He was a member of the Methodist church at Bedford. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Harry Sanders of Indianapolis.
