WELL KNOWN ORANGE CITY BUSINESS MAN GONE
MANY ATTEND RITES
Dick Vander Berg, who for a few weeks had been cared for in the hospital at Cherokee, died there Thursday at the age of 59 years and nine months.
Deceased was born in the Netherlands and came, at the age of fourteen years, to America with his widowed mother, brothers and sisters.
The family came to LeMars, where he lived until 1896, when he was married to Miss Ruth Aalfs of the same city.
The young, couple moved to Sioux Center, and later to Maurice until about 8 years ago when they came to Orange City.
Besides his wife he leaves five children to mourn his loss, Mrs. H. De Jager, Maurice, Mrs. Geo. Wassenaar, Cascade, Ia., Ralph, Francis and and Alma; also two grandchildren and four; brothers and three sisters.
While the family lived at Sioux Center, Mr. Vander. Berg was organist in the Central Ref. church, while living in Orange City he served the Trinity Ref. church as deacon for some years.
He was manager of the Farmers Elevator here until a short time ago when he became mentally unable to tend any business.
The body arrived here last Friday. Funeral services were held Monday at the Trinity Ref. church, Rev. J. Van Zomerenand Rev. S. Menning officiating.
