Edna June Richter
Edna June (Norenberg) Richter of Havre, 84, known as "June" to her friends, passed away at Northern Montana Hospital Thursday morning, March 27, 2008, of natural causes.
Memorial services will be Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Havre. Graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery, after which a luncheon will be held at the church.
June was born on June 26, 1923, to Alma (Voss) and Edward Norenberg, on the family farm north of Hingham. She met and later married John Richter on September 30, 1942, and they farmed south of Gildford, Montana for several years. June was the last of the eight siblings to pass. They were: Louise Blake, Ray "Buzz" Norenberg, Dorothy Jones, Verda Alex, Vera Rambo, Ed Norenberg and Marlene Hanson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Richter, in 2001; an infant son Ronauld in 1957 and a daughter Shirley, who passed away 2001.
June had a closeness with her children that was to be emulated, probably because of her ability to listen without judging. June was a homemaker; she also assisted John in managing his business. She liked to play bingo, cards and various games of chance. She loved serving, baking and quilting for her children and grandchildren. All her children were constantly amazed at her ability to feed 10 or more visitors at the drop of a hat where all the food came from was a mystery. Her recipes will be listed at a public auction web site.
She is survived by her children John Jr. of Post Falls, Idaho; Russell Richter of Lolo; Lee Richter of Havre; and Alvin Richter of Santa Rosa, Calif; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you to her caregivers at NMCC and NMH. Special thanks to Kathy Bouchard for helping mom in recent years playing spite and malice, zilch and just being there for her. Also her guardian angel Denise Strissel for watching over Mom during her stay in the hospital and care center. There have been others over the years and we apologize for not being able to mention all of you.
