Born to Carl Johan Bengtsson (1830-1912) and Severina Hagman (1831-1911) as Otto Leonhard Carlsson in Morup, Sweden. Married to Josephine Karlsdotter and emigrated to US in 1880. Settled in Pennsylvania and worked on the railroad before moving to New Jersey where he worked as a carpenter. Otto and Josephine had 10 children, Carl Albin(1881-?,died in Pennsylvania during childhood), Johan (John)Severin(1883-?), Jennie(1885-1933), Hjalmar (2/21/88-3/5/88), Anna Gustafa(1889-1958), Andrew (1891-1921), Esther (1896-1975), Emma(1896-1954), and Clara T.(1900-1941). No record of the tenth child has been found.
