Unity M. Denton, the daughter of John D. Denton and Mary "Polly" Hardin., was born on January 20, 1826 in Tennessee. She was the wife of Hugh M. Baker, the son of Nathaniel Baker and Jane Clubb. He was born on November 18, 1819 in Indiana.

At the time of the 1870 Census of Leitchfield Precinct, Grayson County, Kentucky the Hugh M. Baker family consisted of: H. M., a farmer, age 50, b. IN; his wife U. M., age 44, b. TN: and children: son S. F., a school teacher, age 19; daughter J. D., age 17; son E. C., age 15; son S.H., age 14; S(quire) O(liver), age 12; J(ohn) W., age 9; and J(ames) S., age 7.

Unity M. Denton Baker died in Grayson County on October 8, 1875. She was buried there in the Shrewsbury Cemetery in Shrewsbury. Their son James S. Baker, who was born on May 31, 1863, was buried there after his death on April 18, 1880. Hugh M. Baker died in Grayson County at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 17 days on January 4, 1910. He was buried with Unity M. Baker, who had preceded him there.
