Services for Jacobo "Jake" Martinez, 77, of Meadow were at 2 p.m. today in La Casa de Oracion with Abel Ortega, minister, officiating.

Burial was in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapel.

He died Monday at Brownfield Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He married Cora Martinez in 1926 in Pearsall. He was a laborer.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Simon of Meadow, Jacobo Jr. of California, Santos, Lorenzo, Jimmy and Danny,, all of Lubbock; four daughters, Helen Diaz of Plains, Rosa Vasquez of Lubbock, Maria Ortiz and Josie Martinez, both of Post; 40 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jessie Ortiz, Juan Marcos Martinez, Joe Martinez, Manuel Diaz, Santos Martinez and Jacinto Vasquez, Jr.
