SIMMONS
Services for Jodie Simmons Sr., 77, of Carlsbad, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in the West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Columbus Lewis, of the Church of God, officiating. Burial is to follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Simmons died Monday (April 19, 1993) in an Amarillo, Texas, nursing home, where he resided for the past two months. He was born Sept. 29, 1915, in Wharton, Texas. He moved to Carlsbad twenty years ago where he was employed by McVain & Barlow Construction working on pipeline construction until his retirement in 1980.
He is survived by four sons, Jodie Simmons Jr. and Jimmy Simmons, both of Amarillo, Linvel Mosby Sr. and Nathaniel Mosby, both of Carlsbad; three daughters, Gloria Ohuona, of Nigeria, Josie Foster of Amarillo, and Wilinda Barton, of Midland; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
