Another Old Resident Dead-There died at his late residence in South Dumfries on Tuesday last ,Mr Alonzo Clump aged 69 years after a number of years of illness. The deceased was the youngest and last son of the late Zacbariah Clump and was born in 1832 on the farm on which he died being the first 'plot of land taken up by his father (Some 80 years ingo When he first came ho this country) - Mr Alonzo Clump was never married. He greatly enjoyed his occupation of farming which he conducted for many years with a largo amount of intelligence and which always prospered. Upon his death he was the owner in all probability of as large and valuable farms as were ever held by ome man' 'in 'this section . He took a "great deal of interest in placing upon his land evergreen trees and those coming after him will ever be reminded by the long rows and clusters of beautiful trees of their late owner" pride and care in their growth.He was a life long Reformer but took little interest in politics or municipal matters. His funeral was (held on Thursday afternoon from his late residence to the family burying ground on ie farm but a few rods distant from where he had always lived and where his parents brothers and sisters lived. The service at the house and at tha grave were performed by the Rev Mr Cline of Paris assisted by the Rev Mr Grant of Ingersoll. One sister Miss Eliza Jane at the homestead is the only- ohis family who survives him.
