Margaret Ursula Holden, daughter of Thomas Holden, Jr. and Elizabeth Flannigan, was born 21 May 1822 in Amite Co, Miss.

She married 1st to Isaac F. Carter, son of John "William" Carter and Hannah Jemimah Cole, on 20 Nov. 1836 in Amite Co, Miss.

Margaret and Isaac had the following children:
1. Americus Vespucius Carter born 18 Jan 1834 in Amite Co, Miss.
2. Thomas Carter born 1842 in Amite Co, Miss.
3. William Oliver Carter, Sr. born 15 Jan 1846 in Natchitoches Par, La.
4. Elizabeth A. Carter born 22 June 1849 in Natchitoches Par, La. Yes, she married about 1872 to Charles Nettie "Ned" Carter (brother of 1/2 1st cousin).
5. Thaddeus Amos Carter born 22 Nov 1851 in Natchitoches Par, La.

After Isaac died in 1853, she married William Amos Ponder, son of Silas Lito Ponder and Lucitta Darden, on 22 Jan 1854.

William Amos Ponder adopted William, Elizabeth, and Thaddeus A. Carter. He and Margaret had the following children:
1. Laura Eleanor Ponder born 06 Sept 1854 in Ft. Jesup, Sabine Par, La.
2. Silas Daniel Ponder, Sr. born 15 Jan 1860 in Ft. Jesup, Sabine Par, La.
3. Amos Lee Ponder born 24 Sept 1863 in Ft. Jesup, Sabine Par, La.

After 1860, Margaret Holden & Willam Amos Ponder "took in" her sister Julia's children of:
1. Charles Nettie Carter born 07 Sept 1849 in Natchitoches Par, La.
2. Joseph Coleman Carter born 22 Dec 1857.
3. Jensey Elizabeth Carter born 27 Nov 1858 in Sabine Par, La.

When Margaret died she was buried on the Holden Plantation near Allen, LA, a short distance south of Coushatta Chute. Her tombstone is located in the Ft. Jesup Cem. According to family legend, in 1930, her son Silas D. Ponder, found her fallen tombstone and decided the cemetery was not being properly cared for and moved the tombstone to the Ft. Jesup Cem. Her body was not moved.
