Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Merry had a passion for life, her family, and God. She loved Church and she loved to sing. She sang in the church choir and regularly called family members to sing Happy Birthday even if it was a month too soon!
She was an amazing cook - ensuring anyone that was hungry had a plate to eat. Her name defined her as Merry was a happy person that shared her joy by making people laugh with her own laughter, big smile, jokes, and hilarious comments.
She loved to watch professional wrestling and was known to have a crush on The Rock and Hulk Hogan. You could also find Merry watching Little House on the Prairie with Tommy (her fat cat). She loved holidays and knew how to make Christmas fun - knowing exactly what to buy each of her children.
Merry was a character and would sneak food regardless of her medical restrictions. One day, she was found cooking pork chops. Her excuse " I'm tired of eating chicken."
Merry was a strong and devoted woman. Despite the challenges, she raised seven children: she never dated and never remarried after losing her soulmate. She was a member of the Democratic Party.
Merry was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Noah Carter, daughters: Cheryl Lynn Carter and Sonia Marie Carter, and her grandchildren Augustus Noah III, Cecelia Suazo, and Denise Marie Carter. Merry is survived by her children Evelyn Wallace, Veronica Williams (Mike), Augustus N. Carter, Cathy Carter, and Larry L. Carter (Nilsa), twenty-six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She was the pillar, the rock, and the angel that made life easier to handle. We will miss you Merry and pray that you have found peace.
