Jimmy Dean Thomason, of Checotah, passed away on January 27, 2011, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 63. Jimmy was born April 11, 1947 in Vian, OK to Wesley Charles and Mary Marjorie (Duffield) Thomason. Jimmy attended Vian and Choctaw Schools and enlisted into the U.S. Army, honorably serving for five years. His service spanned two enlistments that included a tour in Vietnam and service in Germany; Fort Rucker, AL; Fort Polk, LA; and Ft Lewis, WA. Jimmy returned to Oklahoma after his service in the Army and settled in Oklahoma City where he worked as a carpenter. He later worked in Colorado Springs, CO, eventually retiring from Local Carpenter's Union no. 515. After his retirement, Jimmy returned to Oklahoma again, this time settling at his home on Lake Eufaula. Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to swap meets and casinos. He also took a lot of pride in old cars and trucks that he had restored. Jimmy will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Jo Lemaster. He is survived by his two sons, Albert Gene "Pudge" Thomason of Lavaca, AR, and Jimmy Dean "Lil Jim" Thomason Jr. and his wife Jackie of Silver Bay, MN; grandchildren, Joseph O'Brian Branham, Shelby Lynn Thomason, Jena Anne Thomason, and Dustin Warren Thomason; great grandchildren, Sydney Jo Branham and Keannah Garza; brothers, Mike Thomason and his wife Debbie of Checotah, and Joe Thomason and his wife June of Vian; sisters, Robin Forga of Moore, OK, Charlene Kirkes of Checotah, Margie Lou Boggs and her husband Earl of Lillian, AL, Maxine Cawford and her husband Jim of Gans, OK, Susie Emmerson of Oklahoma City, Debbie Kay Wright and her husband Mickey of Kingwood, TX, Pam Thomason of Oklahoma City, and Gayle Thomason of Oklahoma City; and many nieces nephews friends and love ones as well as his three dogs, Taco, Lucy and Pig Pen. A family visitation will be from 2-4pm Tuesday at Hampton Mortuary of Checotah. Funeral services for Jimmy will be 10:00 am Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Mission Outreach Full Gospel Church in Checotah. Interment will follow at National Cemetery with Albert Gene Thomason, Jimmy Dean Thomason, Dustin Warren Thomason, Wesley Thomason, Mike Thomason and Joe Thomason serving as pallbearers. Services are entrusted to Hampton Mortuary.
