Fern McKenzie, 98, 3820 W. Jackson St., died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born in Dover and attended school in Clinton County before moving to Muncie in 1917.
Mrs. McKenzie worked during the 1920s and '30s for the Tom Beedy Grocery Store at 2801 W. Jackson St., near Tillotson Avenue.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta (Tootie) Falls, Muncie; two sons, Bob McKenzie, Muncie, and Bernard McKenzie, Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Fred, died in 1977, and a son, Glenn, died in September. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel with Rev. Don Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be an hour before services Monday at the mortuary.
