- OAKLAND,MARYLAND -- Ralph Emerson Arnold, age 61, of Oakland Sang Run Road, died on Wednesday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

He was born in Oakland on Feb. 21, 1937, and was a son of the late Ray C. Arnold and Mabel (Fike) Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was a partner in Arnold Brothers Equipment Company.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Spiker) Arnold; one daughter, Susan Smith, Friendsville; six stepdaughters, Brenda Glotfelty and Nancy Paugh, both of Oakland, Norma Rodeheaver, Friendsville, Carolyn Friend, Accident, Melissa Wolfe and Judy Streets, both of Oakland; one stepson, Norman Reams Jr., Oakland; two brothers, Clayton Arnold, Mountain Lake Park, and Frank Arnold, Oakland; one sister, Laura Raleigh, Philadelphia, Pa.; one grandchild; and 18 stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Matthews and the Rev. David Moon officiating.

Interment will be in the Gortner Cemetery.

The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
