OAKLAND,MARYLAND -- Franklin (Frank) H. Arnold, 71, of Oakland, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland.

He was born Sept. 3, 1932, near Oakland, and was a son of the late Ray Carlton and Mabel (Fike) Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was the owner of Frank Arnold Contractors, Arnold Brothers Equipment Company and Perry's Solid Waste Removal.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Martin) Arnold; one son, Mark Arnold; one daughter, Teresa Shotwell, all of Oakland; one brother, Clayton Arnold, Mountain Lake Park; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Martin officiating.

Interment will be in the Gortner Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department or the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
