Abbeville. . . LaVerne Blalock Rollins, a resident of Abbeville, died Friday morning, May 5, 2017, at her home. She was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 8, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Thomas D. Gamble and Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Alabama Children’s Hospital, Attn: Coke Matthews, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.

Mrs. Rollins was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, daughter of the late Robert Simpson (Bo) Blalock and Fannie Mae Stinson Blalock. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Rollins retired as manager of Jake’s Restaurant in Ft. Gaines. In earlier years she was the owner and operator of the Red Bird Fish Camp and served as Deli Manager at Hugh’s IGA. Mrs. Rollins was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Rollins, Sr., a son, James Leslie Rollins, Jr., a grandson, Leslie Dean Rollins, a great-grandson, Coby Allums, a sister, Sue Money, and a brother, William Blalock.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Wanda Lisenby and Gail Rollins both of Abbeville; a son, George Rollins (Patty), Fountain Inn, SC; two sisters, Elizabeth Matthews, Columbia, SC; and Winona Eckley, Abbeville; six grandchildren, Heather McBrayer (Ken), Don Lisenby (Brandi), Courtney Rollins (Rob Miller), Chad Allums (Beth), Keisha Roberts (Troy), and Amanda Rollins; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jerry Brown, Liz Richards, Gary and Patricia Jones and Len Herndon.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Kindred Home Health and Kindred Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Rollins during her illness.
